Our Free Fashioneur Workshops

At H-Studio, we believe in more than just creating fashion—we build futures. That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our Free Fashioneur Workshops, an initiative led by our visionary Executive Director, Chantal Mtakati, to empower, educate, and connect South African fashion entrepreneurs—our very own #Fashioneurs.

What started as a small idea has grown into a thriving Facebook community of passionate creatives, emerging designers, and startup founders who share their fashion journey—their wins, challenges, and everything in between. The group serves as a safe, supportive, and inspiring space for local fashion entrepreneurs to network, exchange knowledge, and access real business opportunities in the fashion industry.

The First Workshop – June 14, 2019

The movement officially launched on 14 June 2019, when Chantal hosted the very first free fashion workshop. Set in an intimate, energetic space (with some delicious chicken salad on the side), Chantal took attendees through the essentials of:

• Brand development: Understanding your identity, values, and positioning

• Clothing production: Insight into sourcing, manufacturing, and quality control

• Pitching collections: How to present your line to local retail buyers

More than just a learning experience, the workshop sparked deep conversations about the future of South Africa’s fashion industry—its possibilities, its potential, and how we as creatives can shape it.

From Dream to Reality: LoloD’s Success Story

One of the highlights of the workshop was our collaboration with local fashion brand LoloD. Through mentorship and hands-on support, we helped her produce her first range, and even assisted in getting her collection stocked through collaborative retail partnerships. Today, LoloD is a shining example of what happens when talent meets opportunity.

Her journey is a testament to what the Fashioneur community stands for: empowering creators to turn ideas into impactful brands.
